Dongpingfang Pagoda
Chaoyang, Liaoning, China
It is generally believed that Dongpingfang Pagoda was built during the Liao Dynasty, though the exact construction date remains uncertain. However, some scholars have speculated that it might have been constructed in the second year of the Jin Dynasty’s Zhenglong era (1157), based on an ink inscription found on the murals inside the pagoda. This viewpoint, however, is still under debate. The carvings on Dongpingfang Pagoda carry a wealth of historical information, providing valuable material evidence for research in history, art, architecture, folklore, and other fields.
