In the 1990s, thousands of Taiwanese entrepreneurs moved to Dongguan to build factories, a migration that routinely split families across the strait. To mend this separation, community leader Ye Hongdeng championed the creation of the Dongguan Taiwanese Businessmen's Children's School. When it opened in the fall of 2000, it became the first institution in mainland China authorized to teach the Taiwanese curriculum. The kindergarten serves as the foundation of this fifteen-year educational system, offering a secure, nurturing environment for children growing up far from their families' original homes.

The physical space reflects a deliberate educational philosophy. Set within a sprawling 143,925-square-meter campus, the kindergarten is surrounded by dense greenery and mature trees. The interiors are designed specifically for the Montessori method. Classrooms are open and orderly, equipped with specialized materials that encourage hands-on exploration and sensory development. The learning environment expands naturally beyond the classroom walls. Children visit the campus’s Chinese Culture Hall to practice traditional tea ceremonies and flower arranging. Teachers take students outdoors to the nearby Huangyong Wetland Park and local agricultural spaces to study ecology and observe the natural world.
