- On the afternoon of September 21st, under moderate rain, Shanxi's ancient architecture began to reveal its true value. Xiangyan Temple stands on an elevated earthen plateau, with one entire side of the plateau neatly carved into cave dwellings. These are used as guest rooms related to the temple, seamlessly blending with the architectural style of the temple itself. This layout left me utterly amazed.
