This unique sculpture is situated in Hegang, now arguably the most renowned of China's numerous coal mining cities. Despite its vast reserves, economic factors have led to the shutdown of many mines in Hegang. Coal mining has shaped both the identity and collective memory of its residents. To honor this heritage, the Lingbei Mine's former open-pit site has been converted into a park.

At the park's entrance stands Qingtian, a sculpture that pays homage to miners' resilience and contributions to modern China. Crafted from hydraulic props, sleepers, and rails, it represents the miners' strength—the very backbone supporting miles of underground tunnels. The use of pickaxes and shovels embodies their unyielding spirit and courage, while motors symbolize their innovative wisdom.

During our visit for a photo shoot, we were greeted by the soothing sounds of two elderly individuals playing saxophones at the entrance—a testament to how this space offers a serene haven for practicing musicians without disturbing nearby residents. It leaves one curious about what sounds might welcome future visitors.
