Nose Stone in Nose Park
Covington, Louisiana, United States of America
Nose Park, officially known as 1st Avenue Park, is a unique public space located at 401 E. 1st Avenue in Covington, Louisiana. Established in 1996, the park features a distinctive three-foot-tall concrete sculpture of a human nose, created by artist Al Ormsby, who modeled it after his own. This whimsical installation has earned the park its colloquial name, "Nose Park."
The park is situated on a site that formerly housed a sewage treatment plant, demonstrating a creative transformation of the area into a community space. Visitors can enjoy amenities such as a riverside covered pavilion, an observation deck, and a boardwalk leading down to the river, offering a serene environment for relaxation and nature appreciation.
Managed by the City of Covington's Parks and Recreation Department, Nose Park exemplifies the community's commitment to repurposing urban spaces for public enjoyment, blending art and nature in a distinctive setting.
