There used to be many service stations along Lincoln Highway in 1920s, its early days. David Berton Koontz owned one in Bedford, Pennsylvania and his trick to attract travellers was this big coffee pot.

This 18-feet tall novel building was built in 1927. Inside are bricks and outside is covered sheet metal. In the last hundred years it went through different ownerships and fulfilled different roles including a lunch stand, bus station and a bar.

This coffee pot went out of business in 1980s and quietly decayed. Fortunately, with the help of a state grant, The Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor obtain the ownership, moved it to the Bedford County Fairgrounds and restored it, though finding a professional to repair its metal sheet surface is a challenge since no one built things that way anymore.

Old time highways had different ideas about advertising. Years later, no longer selling anything, the coffee pot itself has become an interest.
