- Early morning on September 23, light rain. Iron Buddha Monastery is located within the campus of Shanxi Normal University. The university is quite open-minded, allowing external vehicles to enter, which provided us with great convenience—we didn’t have to stand in the rain to take photos. The most distinctive feature of Iron Buddha Monastery is its pagoda, where the "doors" and "windows" on each level are crafted into colorful brick carvings—they are not actual doors or windows. The main hall of the temple now serves as the Iron Buddha Monastery Museum.
