On the afternoon of September 22nd, overcast. Houtu is the central deity in ancient Chinese mythology, revered as the Mother of Earth. In southern China, there is often a small grave behind the main burial site, with the inscription "Houtu" on the stele. In the north, Houtu is also closely associated with funerary rites. While filming at the Ling Shi Houtu Temple, we witnessed local residents conducting a funeral nearby. The mournful music echoed softly, blending harmoniously with the drone's somber hum, amplifying the grief.
