Niches at Southern Cliff in Yuanjue Cave
Ziyang, Sichuan, China
Located in the southern cliff of Yuanjue Cave Cliff Sculpture Scenic Area, Niches 42, 43, and 44 are constructed from 618-960, during the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties. Niche 42 contains a 14 layers of seated Buddhas across the wall, with Niche 43 at the bottom of left side, which is a seated headless Bodhisattva riding an ox, and Niche 44 at the top of the left side, which contains several seated and standing images.
