The Mississippi Foundry and Machine Company, established in 1900, was a prominent manufacturer of agricultural implements in Jackson, Mississippi. Its primary facility, located at 300 West South Street, was constructed in 1905, with subsequent expansions in 1914, 1918, and 1925. The building exemplifies early 20th-century mill-type architecture, characterized by brick and heavy timber construction. Strategically positioned between the Illinois Central Railroad and the Yazoo & Mississippi Valley Railroad, the foundry played a vital role in the region's economic development during that era. After over 90 years of operation, the company ceased business around 1991. The building has since been repurposed into residential units known as the Foundry Lofts, preserving its historical integrity.
