Located on the back mountain of Fengxiang Village, Fengyu Town, Eryuan County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, the Dragon King Temple on Dishishan Mountain is part of the larger Dishishan Ancient Architectural Complex. Also known as one of the seven temples within the complex, the temple is closely connected with the local religious traditions of the Bai ethnic community. Its name derives from the Dragon King, a deity traditionally associated with water and rainfall in Chinese folk religion. Local historical records indicate that the temple sits at the foot of the mountain, where a clear spring flows nearby, preserving memories of the area's spiritual and agricultural heritage.

The original construction date of the Dragon King Temple is not precisely documented. The Dishishan Ancient Architectural Complex, of which the temple is a part, was originally built during the Ming Dynasty and underwent restoration during the Qing Dynasty. The temple was later repaired through community fundraising efforts in recent decades. Situated at the foot of the mountain, the temple marks the entrance to the ancient architectural complex, with a winding stone path leading up the slope to the other temples above.

Among the temple's most notable architectural features is its two-story central hall, flanked by side wings and connected by covered corridors. Built using traditional timber-frame construction with blue tiles and stone walls, the temple reflects the vernacular building style of western Yunnan's Bai architecture. The structure follows the natural slope of the mountain, with its compact layout demonstrating the adaptability of local building traditions to the mountainous terrain.

Today, the Dragon King Temple on Dishishan Mountain remains an active local religious site, attracting villagers who come to worship and offer incense throughout the year. The temple is also part of the broader Fengyu Ancient Buildings cluster, which has been recognized for its historical and cultural significance. Through its surviving temple structures, connection with local spring water, and ongoing role in community rituals, the Dragon King Temple preserves an important part of the religious and cultural heritage of Fengyu Town.
