On the afternoon of September 17, light rain turned overcast. Qin'an, located in southeastern Gansu, has a climate different from the stereotypically arid image of Gansu, instead resembling the humid Qinling Mountains, with lush green trees. The small county is relatively poor and underdeveloped. The Confucian Temple here is not an open tourist attraction but part of the Fourth Elementary School of Qin'an County, making it completely inaccessible to outsiders. We only managed to capture photos by sneaking into the neighboring Qin'an County Education Bureau compound. In such small towns, local governments hold formidable authority, and we were promptly chased out by security guards.
