The Boy Scout Catfish, officially titled "Be Prepared," is a whimsical public sculpture located in Nashville, Tennessee. As part of the 2003 "Catfish Out of Water" project, approximately 50 fiberglass catfish statues were decorated by local artists to benefit organizations like the Cumberland River Compact, Greenways for Nashville, and Parthenon Patrons Foundations. While many of these sculptures were later auctioned off, the Boy Scout Catfish found a permanent home in front of the Boy Scout Headquarters of the Middle Tennessee Council on Hillsboro Pike. Dressed in full Boy Scout attire, including green pants, a merit badge sash, and a campaign hat, this statue exemplifies Nashville's creative approach to public art.
