Outside the north gate of Weishan Ancient Town, on Yuehua Street, stands Weishan North Community School. Founded as Yuying Community School during the Chongzhen era (1628–1644) of the late Ming dynasty, this 1,800-square-meter compound has served as a place of learning for over three centuries. It was established by sub-prefectural magistrate Zhu Tongsu and local gentry to provide basic education. In 1687, magistrate Chen Wencheng supported the school by donating a portion of his official salary to hire teachers.

The architecture preserves the physical marks of its long history. Visitors enter through a three-bay-wide, archway-style gate topped with a single-eave gable-and hip roof. The gate's timber frame is built from tough oak wood, a rare material choice in this region. Under the eaves, a staggered system of wooden brackets supports the roof, with a nine-tier system over the middle bay and a seven-tier system over the flanking bays.

Inside, the courtyard layout remains intact, covering a designated heritage area of 659.12 square meters. The central hall features a single-eave flush gable roof, measuring 12.7 meters wide and 13.5 meters deep. Its high-pitched roof ridge rises sharply against the sky, while its columns rest on simple, hand-carved stone bases. Flanking the courtyard, the east and west side wings contain original Qing dynasty beam frames. High on these wooden structures, ink inscriptions from the Qianlong, Daoguang, and Guangxu eras record the dates of past repairs, left by the hands of long-dead carpenters.

The school has adapted to changing times. In 1886, builders added the Master's Pavilion, which was later relocated to Mengyang Park in 1981 and renamed Qiji Pavilion. During the Republic of China, the site became Qingyun Elementary School. Today, renamed Qunli Elementary School, the historic compound continues to function as an active campus.
