On the afternoon of September 18th, under moderate rain. A prime example of the tourism industry's misdeeds. There was originally a very convenient highway leading to the 108 Pagodas scenic area—wide, smooth, and undoubtedly costly to build. Yet this road was forcibly blocked off. The 108 Pagodas were merged into the "Yellow River Grand Canyon" scenic area on the opposite bank, charging a hefty entrance fee while significantly increasing the difficulty for visitors to reach the pagodas. Tourists now must transfer to a sightseeing bus, then switch to a ferry to get there. Perhaps in their minds, travelers are nothing but fat geese ready for slaughter—earning economic returns through service is incomprehensible, while making money by inflicting frustration and helplessness is clearly far more convenient.
