At No. 80 Chongwen Street in Jingzhou, the Shashi District Cultural Center stands as a physical archive of community life. The history of this institution connects local efforts to national discoveries. In 1974, Li Jiahao, a scholar from the Shashi Cultural Center, joined a national team to transcribe the fragile, water-damaged Han Dynasty bamboo slips discovered at Yinqueshan. His meticulous work helped reconstruct the lost military treatises of Sun Bin.

Following a major reconstruction between 2015 and 2016, its structure holds spaces designed for public gathering. In early 2021, workers repaired the plaster of the interior walls, smoothing over years of wear. The institution expanded its reach on May 1, 2022, by opening the Cenhe Branch at the Cenhe Town Comprehensive Cultural Station. Later that year, it earned designation as a National Class-3 Cultural Center. In 2024, the center added the Shashi District Digital Cultural Center, introducing glowing digital interfaces to its physical classrooms.
