At No. 38 Huancheng West 2nd Road, a concrete skeleton once stood abandoned beside the waters of Huizhou West Lake. In 2002, under the direction of Wu Huohao, a 300 million RMB investment transformed this unfinished shell into a 10-story commercial landmark. Opening on May 1 of that year, the 45,000-square-meter structure catalyzed the surrounding retail district.
In 2016, facing a shifting retail landscape, manager Wu Fanghua initiated a radical redesign. She brought the outside in. The interior now functions as a reflection of the adjacent lake, incorporating six distinct regional cultural elements. Shoppers navigate past architectural motifs of blooming lotuses and traditional pavilions. On the upper levels, expansive glass windows frame sweeping panoramic views of the water and the distant Dongjiang River, dissolving the boundary between the commercial space and the natural landscape.
